Have you considered running for the board of education?

Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District residents will elect three individuals to the J-D Board of Education on May 16.  

The following incumbents’ terms expire on June 30: Joseph Gross, David Leach and Carolyn Souser.

Anyone interested in running for the board must submit a petition for nomination of a candidate. Petitions are available at the J-D District Office which is located at J-D High School. The number of signatures required to nominate a candidate is 25, and petitions must be filed with the district clerk at the J-D District Office by 5 p.m. April 17.

All board of education members in New York state must meet the following qualifications:

    • Be a qualified voter of the district:
    • Be a district resident for at least one year, 
    • A U.S. citizen, 
    • A minimum of 18 years of age and 
    • Be able to read and write.
