Jamesville-DeWitt High School Junior Samuel Ahn was recently awarded the first-ever Symphoria “Tenacity in Tune Award” presented by Drakos Pediatric Urgent Care. The award recognizes the profound impact of music and the arts on the mental well-being of young musicians in Onondaga County.

Samuel is a dedicated oboe player. He first started playing in fourth grade. He now plays with the Symphoria Youth Orchestra and also participates in All County Orchestra and Band.

“Music has given me the opportunity to meet new people and travel to new places. It has allowed me to experience many new things that I never would have if I didn’t get into music,” shared Samuel.

His family got four VIP tickets to the pre-concert holiday brunch. He also got the exclusive opportunity to go behind the scenes for the rehearsal and the live performance of Symphoria’s “Nutcracker Twist: An Enchanted Journey.” He was presented with the “Tenacity in Tune Award” before the Saturday, Dec. 9 performance.

Congratulations Samuel on this very exciting achievement and well-earned experience!
