J-D High School shares Shakespeare Competition results

On Wednesday, Dec. 13, six juniors and seniors competed in Jamesville-DeWitt High School’s Shakespeare Monologue School-Level Competition sponsored by the Syracuse Branch of the English-Speaking Union of the United States. 

1st place went to senior Eden Shirilan-Showlett for his performance as Shylock from Merchant of Venice.  Senior Alex Bronchetti notched 2nd place with her portrayal of Helen from All’s Well That Ends Well.  Coming in 3rd was junior Lindsay Gaines in her role as Tamora from Titus Andronicus.   

As the J-DHS school winner, Shirilan-Howlett advances to the Syracuse Branch competition on March 9 where he will compete against school winners from across the Central New York region.  The branch competition winner advances to the National Finals in New York City on a date to be determined in late April.
