2023-24 safety plan available for public review; July 24 public hearing planned

Having a plan in place for handling a wide range of possible emergencies is an important component of school management and student safety.

To accomplish this, the Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District maintains a public School District Safety Plan and confidential building-level School Safety Plans, in accordance with New York state’s Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (S.A.V.E.) Law. The public district-level plan is always available for review on the district website and upon request in each school building.

The board of education will present the proposed 2023-24 District Safety Plan and hold a public hearing at its July 24 board meeting.

The district is currently accepting feedback on the proposed plan through August 20. You can send comments to Superintendent Peter Smith at psmith@jd.cnyric.org.

The board anticipates voting on whether to adopt the plan August 21.
