Feb. 8, 2021: Have you considered running for the board of education?
Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District residents will elect three individuals to the J-D Board of Education on May 18.
The following incumbents’ terms expire on June 30: Dana Corcoran, Wendy Rhodes and Juanita Rivera-Ortiz.
Anyone interested in running for the board must submit a petition for nomination of a candidate. Petitions are available by calling Tish Hauser in the J-D Superintendent’s Office at 315-445-8304.
The number of signatures required to nominate a candidate is 25, and petitions must be filed with the district clerk at the J-D District Office by 5 p.m. April 19.
All board of education members in New York state must meet the following qualifications:
Be a qualified voter of the district:
Be a district resident for at least one year,
A U.S. citizen,
A minimum of 18 years of age and
Be able to read and write.
