Jan. 29, 2021: Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing to take place Feb. 2 at Moses DeWitt
On Jan. 29, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Superintendent Peter Smith sent the following letter to Moses DeWitt Elementary School families and staff.
Dear Moses DeWitt families and staff,
Onondaga County has notified us that we will hold another school-based testing event Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Moses DeWitt Elementary School. Though Governor Cuomo eliminated the zone designations that required schools in the orange zone to test every other week, we will still offer asymptomatic testing monthly. This testing is for Moses DeWitt students in groups A, B, C or D, and Moses DeWitt teachers and staff. Getting tested for COVID regularly is a great way to ensure your health and the health of those around you.
Please use this link to register. Note that testing will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis and the registration link closes once the number of available testing slots have been filled. Students and staff who were tested previously are eligible to be tested again at this time.
The registration site requires this information be included:
- Moses DeWitt Elementary School
- 201 Jamesville Road
- DeWitt, NY 13214
- School Phone: (315) 445-8370
The tests, which are being provided to the district by the county, will be the BinaxNOW shallow nasal swab, not the more intrusive traditional COVID-19 test. While a parent may accompany his or her child to the testing, we ask that you please avoid parking in the student drop off loop. Results of the test will be available in about 15 minutes. Anyone with a positive test result will be sent home.
At this time, Moses DeWitt will continue to offer in-person instruction following its regular hybrid schedule.
Our goal is to keep everyone healthy while delivering instruction in a safe environment, and I am thankful for your ongoing support and willingness to pivot with us throughout this pandemic. Registration for Tuesday’s testing is now open, and I will share future test dates as soon as they are available.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to me or Moses DeWitt Principal Mary Sylvester.
