Jan. 3, 2021: In-person and hybrid instruction to resume Monday, Jan. 4
On Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School Superintendent Peter Smith sent the following letter via SchoolMessenger to J-D families.
Dear Jamesville-DeWitt families,
I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year, and at the same time acknowledge that there is a great deal of concern about returning to school and the possibility of a post-holiday surge of COVID-19 cases. Please know that we have been in constant contact with the Onondaga County Health Department monitoring the number of positive cases among staff and students and instances where students are required to quarantine.
As of today, our numbers are manageable and do not warrant a change in our plans to reopen tomorrow. We will continue to closely monitor this information to inform decisions about whether or not to remain in-person. In the meantime, we must remain vigilant in continuing to follow all health and safety protocols including wearing face masks, hand washing, and social distancing.
Here’s to a hopeful and healthful 2021.
