Dec. 16, 2020: Orange zone testing at Moses DeWitt yields no positive results
On Tuesday, Dec. 15, Onondaga County completed another round of orange zone COVID-19 testing at Moses DeWitt Elementary School that resulted in no positive results.
On Nov. 23, the state identified the neighborhood that includes Moses DeWitt as an orange zone, meaning that area is experiencing a microcluster of COVID-19 cases. The state Department of Health requires that schools in an orange zone must test 10 percent of the school’s in-person students and staff bi-weekly for COVID-19, rotating student groups each week. If the requisite number of staff and students are not tested, the state requires that orange zone schools shift to remote learning for all students.
At this time, Moses DeWitt will continue to offer in-person instruction following its regular hybrid schedule.
The county plans to conduct its next round of orange zone testing at Moses DeWitt in January, and the district will notify families and staff once details are finalized.
