Introduction to Place Value Through

Overview

Throughout this Module, students will:
• solve addition and subtraction problems with teen numbers
• explore place value by making ten and taking from ten
• add and subtract within 20 to solve word problems
• solve word problems with 3 whole numbers whose sum is no greater than 20
• understand that 8+3=11 has the same value as 3+8=11 (Commutative Property)
• make 10 when adding numbers (ex. 2+6+4 = 2+10=12) (Associative Property of Addition)
• add and subtract fluently by making 10
• work with tens and ones - bundling ten ones to make a ten (ex. 17 is a bundle of ten and 7 ones)
