Student-athlete nominated for award that could garner $10,000 grant for J-D athletics

A Jamesville-DeWitt High School student and football player has been nominated for an award recognizing his work ethic and off-field character that could result in a $10,000 equipment grant for the school.

Sophomore Bryce Dadey is a candidate for USA Football’s 2022 Heart of a Giant Award, which is presented by the Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants. He is one of 60 students from the Tri-State area being considered for the award.

One nominee with the most votes from the public will be chosen each week as well as an additional five student-athletes based on work ethic and character, making 11 total finalists, according to the program’s website.

Finalists submit a video to be reviewed for the final round of voting, and all finalists receive a $1,000 equipment grant for their school. USA Football, Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants review all video submissions and select one winner for the Heart of a Giant award to win an additional $10,000 equipment grant and trophy.
