Reminder: Immigration and Customs Enforcement

Dear Jamesville-DeWitt school community,

In light of recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in New York state, we want to share the important information below with you again.

At J-D, our priority remains providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and families. We continue to follow guidance from the Governor of New York State, the Attorney General, and the Commissioner of Education to ensure that our practices follow state and federal requirements.

Consistent with board policy and applicable laws, law enforcement activities—including those conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement—are not permitted in our schools, on transportation routes, on school property, or at school-sponsored events without a valid judicial warrant. If we learn of Immigration and Customs Enforcement presence on our property, we will notify parents and guardians immediately. To help us do so, please be sure your child’s school has current emergency contact information on file. We encourage parents and guardians to provide us with more than one contact if possible.

If you have specific questions regarding your children, please reach out to your building principal.

Thank you,

Darcy L. Woodcock
