Onondaga County to provide bottled water for all Jamesville-DeWitt schools

The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District is working closely with Onondaga County to ensure that our schools continue to have access to safe and adequate drinking water when students and staff return from Winter Recess.

The Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) is currently repairing a leaking transmission main that delivers Lake Ontario water to reservoirs serving the eastern portion of its system, including our community. As a result, OCWA has issued mandatory water conservation measures. All affected districts are planning to return to school as planned on Monday, January 5.

To support conservation efforts, Onondaga County has secured bottled water for distribution to schools. Our administrators and Facilities team are coordinating to make sure drinking water is readily available in each of our buildings. Bathroom use and handwashing with tap water will continue as normal.

The district remains committed to providing a safe, supportive environment where students and staff can learn and work successfully. Administrators will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide more information if conditions change. Building principals are available to address any questions or concerns as they arise.
