The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District is committed to providing schools where our students, staff, and community members feel safe and secure. For the first time, the district has filled School Patrol Officer (SPO) positions at all five buildings. The goal of the SPO program is to provide a reassuring presence for students and staff while strengthening emergency response and building security.
Christopher Schmitt has joined Moses DeWitt Elementary School after 20 years of service with the City of Oswego Police Department. He served as a field training officer, senior evidence technician, and was a proud member of the department’s S.W.A.T. and Criminal Investigations Divisions. He says training new officers was by far the most enjoyable part of his career. He looks forward to building strong connections with students and the community.
Brian Dumas has joined Tecumseh Elementary School with 20 years of experience with the Fulton Police Department and 9 years as a sergeant with the Phoenix Police Department. He also has a background in education and was a substitute teacher for 3 years.
Jason D’Addio has joined Jamesville Elementary School after 20 years of service with the Syracuse Police Department. During that time, he served 10 years as an investigator and worked with the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center for 2 years.
Mark Shea has joined J-D Middle School after retiring from the City of Syracuse Police Department with 20 years of service. He also worked in county and state corrections for 6 years. He’s pleased to be in this new role and is enjoying working with students and staff.
Mike Norton has joined J-D High School for his fifth year serving the school as a School Patrol Officer. He retired from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office as a sergeant following a 30 year career which included positions in the Criminal Investigations Division, Commander of the Crisis Negotiations Team, and more.
