J-D Varsity Head Coach Jamie Archer is among 9 people being inducted into the 2023 Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame this month. The non-profit aims to recognize and pay tribute to Central New Yorkers who have made significant contributions to the world of sports.

Jamie has certainly left his mark on the local lacrosse community. He’s a former two-time, Division I All-American attackman. He played college lacrosse from 1990-1993 for the Syracuse Orangemen. During those four years, he played in the Final Four every year and won two national championships.

Jamie went on to play pro indoor lacrosse with the Syracuse Smash and Reebok Lacrosse Club before transitioning to the sidelines as a coach. He spent time at Nottingham prior to joining Jamesville-DeWitt as a coach and physical education teacher. He helped coach J-D to the State semis in 2003 and 2005. He became head coach in 2006, leading his teams to win four New York State Class B titles (2007, 2010, 2011, 2016). Jamie has been honored twice as Section III coach of the year.

“The Jamesville-DeWitt lacrosse program has truly benefited from having a competitive minded coach, who runs a class act program” said Frederick Wheeler, Director of Physical Education, Athletics, and Health.

This isn’t the first time Jamie has been recognized for his athletic contributions. He was previously inducted into The Upstate Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame in 2013.

“The honor is quite humbling to say the least. I am very honored of course, but I also know that I didn’t get the recognition without so many people along the way” said Jamie.

The 2023 Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame Induction and dinner is scheduled for Monday, October 30 at the Oncenter Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center in Syracuse. You can purchase tickets for the induction and dinner online by clicking here.

Congratulations Jamie, your Red Ram community is so excited for you!
