We’re thrilled to share that more than 80 Jamesville-DeWitt students were recognized in the 2024 Central New York Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. It’s the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for teens in grades 7-12.
The Central New York Region includes 13 counties and nearly 400 eligible schools. According to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards website, judges evaluate entries for their originality, technical skill and the emergence of personal voice or vision. Gold Key Award winners are automatically considered for national awards.
If you’d like to see student art on display, you can head to Onondaga Community College in the Whitney Applied Technology Center. The exhibit will be up through March 1 and is open to the public seven days a week. The hours are: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
The Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse will also display select works, from March 9 through April 7.
