J-D and community partners present “More Than Sad: Suicide Prevention Tips for Parents and Guardians”

The Jamesville-DeWitt High School counseling team wants to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and help prevent suicide. They’re working with community partners to give parents and guardians the tools needed to access local resources, recognize the warning signs, and initiate and carry out meaningful conversations with teens about mental health.

Trained professionals from Contact Community Services will lead a 90-minute suicide prevention discussion for parents and guardians later this month. “More Than Sad” will take place Monday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m., in the Large Group Room at J-D High School.

A program tailored to high school students will also take place during Physical Education classes that week – opening up a great opportunity for discussions at home.

If you have questions about either presentation, call the JDHS Counseling Center at 315-445-5274.
