Original Post: Nov. 8, 2022

The Jamesville-Dewitt Central School District Board of Education will be holding a community forum on Nov. 17 focused on supporting students’ social-emotional and mental health.

Amy Goodrum, a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical supervisor of Syracuse University’s Psychological Services Center, will give a presentation entitled, “Through the Pandemic and Beyond: Best Practices for our Kids and their Development.” The presentation will be followed with breakout groups to solicit feedback and input from attendees before reconvening for a debrief and closing.

The forum will take place 7-9 p.m. Nov. 17 via Zoom to allow more people to participate. For planning purposes, please RSVP to Tish Hauser at thauser@jd.cnyric.org or 315-445-8304.

Culture of Wellness is a focus area within the district’s 2020-25 Strategic Plan, and the board chose the forum topic because it fits within that focus area’s goal: develop and support the social, emotional, mental wellness and behavioral needs of all students, faculty and staff. The forum is also part of an effort to provide two-way communication between the district and its families, staff and community.
