Five Jamesville-DeWitt High School students were recently selected to join the 2025-26 Puerto Rican-Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PRHYLI) Syracuse Delegation.

The overall purpose of the PRHYLI is student empowerment and leadership development. Student delegates also take part in educational trips, including one to the Assembly Floor of the New York State Capitol Building where they get to deliver arguments in favor or against current bills in the legislative process. Through this experience, delegates learn to advocate for issues impacting their communities. They can also earn scholarships.
The first training session for the Syracuse Delegation is scheduled for early December.
