District launches redesigned and updated website

After more than a year of planning, designing, writing new content and migrating existing material, the Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District has launched a new, redesigned version of its website, www.jamesvilledewitt.org.

“We are excited to present our newly designed website to our staff, families and community,” Superintendent Peter Smith said. “The new website will provide important information and resources in a clear, easily accessible manner, and we hope our families and staff find it a valuable resource for information related to the district and its schools.”

While the new site retains the vast amount of information that was available on the old site, the new website boasts a cleaner, more attractive design with enhanced search and navigation features. Unlike the previous site, the display of this mobile-responsive site will create an optimal viewing experience by automatically adjusting to users’ devices, whether they are accessing the site from a desktop computer, smartphone or tablet.

The site was also designed to fulfill web accessibility requirements under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, making it accessible to individuals who have vision, hearing and physical disabilities. It can also be displayed in a variety of languages by clicking on the box at the top of the homepage.

Other highlights of the new site include:

  • Information is categorized within five major topics: About Us, Academics, Athletics, Board of Education and Departments and Services. Clicking on any of these links across the top of the site will allow visitors to access more detailed sub-pages for each. If visitors can’t find what they’re looking for, they can use the search button on the top right of each page.
  • Other elements of the homepage include news from across the district, an agenda-style Google calendar of upcoming events and important dates and “Quick Links” to frequently-visited pages, including the SchoolTool parent portal, a page with the latest COVID-19 information and food services, which includes school menus.
  • There is a searchable directory of school staff that can be accessed by clicking the “Contact Us” link at the top of any page in the site.
  • The five school pages can be accessed from the homepage’s main navigation. Each school’s page includes photos, school-specific links and a Google calendar with school-specific events.
