Distraction-free ThoughtExchange nears deadline; board to host smartphone policy Public Forum on May 28

The district’s ThoughtExchange survey involving distraction-free learning environments will run through Thursday, May 22. Students, staff, families, and community members are encouraged to participate and rate the thoughts of others. Roughly 500 people have already participated.

Administrators and the Board of Education are reviewing a state requirement to limit smartphone phone use in schools. It’s expected to be enacted prior to the 2025-26 school year. They are using this survey to gather as much stakeholder input as possible which will help guide decisions and ensure that any policy changes are beneficial for all involved.

The Board of Education will also host a virtual Public Forum regarding smartphone policies on Wednesday, May 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The district will provide more details soon.
