J-D High School is proud to present the hit musical Footloose, coming to the Osborn Auditorium in February. The cast, crew, pit orchestra, and staff have been hard at work bringing the show to life. The community is invited to join them for an evening of music, dance, and storytelling.
When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren expects the usual challenges of being the new kid at a new high school. What he doesn’t expect are the town’s strict rules – including a ban on dancing – enforced by a local preacher determined to control the town’s youth. As Ren begins to challenge the status quo, tensions rise. Complications grow when the reverend’s rebellious daughter takes an interest in him, drawing the ire of her boyfriend and a town quick to believe the worst about an outsider.
At its heart, Footloose is a powerful and heartfelt story about grief, healing, and the need for understanding across generations. The production explores the emotional connection between a father mourning the son he lost and a young man longing for the father who walked out on him all set to an energetic, crowd-pleasing soundtrack.
