The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Board of Education held a special meeting on Monday, April 28 to appoint Dr. Darcy Woodcock as the next Superintendent of Schools. She signed a four-year contract agreement with some of her family present to show their support.

Dr. Woodcock is a Central New York native with more than two decades of education experience. She is currently the Superintendent of Tully Central Schools.

Board President Joe Gross took time during the meeting to express gratitude to OCM BOCES District Superintendent, Dr. Matthew Cook who helped conduct the search and guide the board through the hiring process. He also shared how much the board is looking forward to working with Dr. Woodcock over the next four years.

“I am grateful to the board for placing their trust in me to lead this wonderful district,” shared Dr. Woodcock. “I look forward to a smooth transition and the opportunity to build strong relationships with the entire school community.”

Superintendent Dr. Peter Smith announced his retirement plans in October and will serve the district through the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. Dr. Woodcock will begin her position with Jamesville-DeWitt on or about July 1.
