The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District has used four of the five emergency closure days built into the 2025-26 school calendar due to inclement weather. If the district uses the remaining emergency closure day it will need to use remote instruction days moving forward to meet the 180-day state-required school schedule.
The following remote learning plan is designed to provide a continuity of learning, while remaining realistic and flexible to student and family needs.
How will families and students be notified about remote instruction days?
If a school, or the district, pivots to remote instruction, that information will be shared via ParentSquare, local media, and posted on the district website.
What would remote instruction look like?
UPK-grade 6
Students will complete learning activities from a prepared instructional packet sent home. The packet includes one activity per content area and is designed for independent or supported completion. The packet will also be available electronically for families who prefer or require digital access.
Teachers will offer virtual office hours via Google Meet, a half-hour session in the morning and another half-hour session in the afternoon. Office hours are intended for student and family questions, clarification, and check-ins, not for direct instruction.
Student attendance for remote learning will be determined by completion of assigned work, which must be submitted by the next in-session school day.
Grades 7-12
Teachers will post learning activities and assignments in Google Classroom for each course.
Teachers will offer virtual office hours for the first 15 minutes of each instructional block. Office hours are intended for student questions, clarification, and check-ins, not for direct, full-class instruction.
Student attendance for remote learning will be determined by completion of assigned work, which must be submitted by the next in-session school day.
