Dr. Archer called the Public Hearing to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Library of the High School and via YouTube Livestream.
Presentation of the Safety Plan updates, Dr. Woodcock
Dr. Woodcock presented a revision to the District Wide Safety Plan, adding Desha’s Law which is about sudden cardiac arrest. Dr. Woodcock shared the background story of Desha Sanders, a twelve-year-old who went into cardiac arrest during a physical education class and later passed away after staff could not locate the keys to the AED. Desha’s cousin, who is a legislator, advocated for better safety, cardiac arrest plans, accessibility and training on AED’s. Dr. Woodcock reviewed the changes and shared the steps and timeline to approve the revision of the Districtwide Safety Plan. Dr. Woodcock said the draft of the Safety Plan is on the website and shared information on how to provide feedback and took questions from the Board. (See Supplemental Minutes).
