The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District has received its latest results from water testing conducted in November. Four outlets that are still in use tested below the state’s action threshold of 0.005 milligrams of lead per liter. Any outlets that continued to test above this level have now been permanently taken offline.
According to New York state law, school districts are required every three years to complete a round of lead testing of all water outlets used for drinking and cooking, unless the state Commissioner of Health requires testing sooner. Samples are sent to a state approved lab for analysis. If a sample exceeds this level, follow-up testing must take place until results confirm outlets meet safety standards.
The district remains committed to transparency and the health and safety of students and staff. All test results are available on the district’s Facilities Department webpage. The district’s next round of testing will take place in 2028.
