Component district residents can vote on OCM BOCES capital project

The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District is one of 23 component districts of Onondaga-Cortland-Madison (OCM) BOCES. That means district residents are eligible to vote in OCM BOCES’ upcoming $30.5 million capital project vote on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

The proposed project focuses on upgrading classrooms and learning spaces at the McEvoy Building at the OCM BOCES Cortlandville Campus and the Career & Technical Education Building at the OCM BOCES Thompson Road Campus.

According to OCM BOCES, 65% of the project would be covered by New York State aid, while the remaining 35% would be shared proportionally across component districts based on student enrollment.

The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District’s share would be $1,490,117 with an average annual tax impact of $43,128. For homeowners, the average annual tax impact for each $1,000 in full-value assessment would be $0.0152.

Estimated annual tax increases for J-D homeowners:

    • No STAR exemption, $1.52 per year
    • Basic STAR exemption, $1.06 per year
    • Enhanced STAR exemption, $0.21 per year
