The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District’s bus fleet continues to have an excellent safety record. The 54 vehicle fleet recently passed state inspections with a 99% rating. The bus inspections happen twice a year.
“This latest inspection rating is a great indicator of how hard our transportation department works in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We are so thankful for their service to our school community, and they should take great pride in this achievement,” said Superintendent Darcy Woodcock.
The district’s Transportation Department serves approximately 2,700 public and private school students, traveling more than 500,000 miles each year.
The approved 2026-27 school budget will keep the district’s bus replacement plan on track. The district will be adding four new 65-passenger gasoline buses and one new Micro Bird wheelchair bus to its fleet. This will keep maintenance costs low and continue to provide safe transportation for students in the year ahead.
New York state has delayed its electric school bus mandate by five years as part of the 2026-27 state budget agreement.
