Voters approve 2026-27 school budget; elect three board members

On May 19, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District voters approved the district’s proposed $74.9 million spending plan for the 2026-27 school year. It carries a 2.63% tax levy increase and a 0.48% decrease in spending compared to the current school year.

Voters approved the budget 656 to 174.

“I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who participated in this process,” said Superintendent Darcy Woodcock. “Now that the budget has passed, administrators and the Board of Education are ready to focus on what matters most, our students and staff. We’re prepared to provide a high quality educational experience in the year ahead and will continue to be fiscally responsible and transparent with our community.”

In addition to the budget proposal, the ballot included two other propositions and the board of education election.

Bus Purchase Proposition

Purchasing four new school buses and one new Micro Bird wheelchair bus at a total cost not to exceed $837,993: 623 yes; 206 no

Library Funding Proposition

Funding the Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville for $1,688,580: 635 yes; 194 no 

Board of Education Election Results  

Voters elected the following three candidates to the Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Board of Education for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2026.

    • Andrew Nolan (636 votes)
    • Dominic D’Imperio (627 votes)
    • David Babikian (632 votes)
