Dear Jamesville-DeWitt Families,
The 2026-27 school year is quickly approaching. I wanted to remind you that all Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District students receive free school meals regardless of family income. This is a result of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) expanding access to the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). CEP allows eligible schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to offer school meals at no charge to all students.
Free meals include three items or more, one of which must be a fruit or vegetable or both. If a student wants an additional meal or individual items we will need to charge them for it.
2026-27 Prices (for additional meals)
Breakfast:
- All schools: $2.55
Lunch:
- Elementary: $3.50
- J-D Middle School: $3.65
- J-D High School: $3.80
Parents and guardians can add money to student meal accounts for additional meals, snacks, or drinks through myschoolbucks.com. To sign up for MySchoolBucks, you will need your child’s nine digit student ID number which can be found in SchoolTool. You can also use checks made out to J-D Food Services or cash.
Parents and guardians will be notified that a student’s meal card or account balance is exhausted and has accrued unpaid charges within 30 days of the charge and then every seven to ten days thereafter. Click here to read the district’s policy on Meal Charging and Prohibition Against Meal Shaming.
We still ask eligible families to complete a Household Income Information Collection Form, which helps our district secure funding and may also result in new or additional benefits for families. Regardless of the results of the application review, your child will receive breakfast and lunch meals at no charge.
Monthly menus for all schools and additional Food Services information are available on the district website.
While a variety of food choices are made available to all students, parents and guardians may also request meal modifications if the available options do not meet their child’s dietary needs. To request a meal modification, please contact me at clowe@jd.cnyric.org or 315-445-5286. I’m happy to discuss any other questions or concerns regarding food service at Jamesville-DeWitt.
We’re looking forward to serving students in the upcoming school year.
Sincerely,
Christine Lowe
Food Service Director
