The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District has collected data from the 2024-25 School Climate Survey. You can find the results posted on the district website by clicking here.
The district first developed the anonymous surveys for students, staff and families with the goals of:
-
- Gathering more comprehensive and valid data on school conditions;
- Focusing attention on quality of teacher-student relationships as well as peer relationships;
- Identifying strengths as well as areas that need improvement; and
- Measuring progress toward the district’s strategic goals.
All survey responses are anonymous and confidential. The surveys are administered annually so the success of programs can be evaluated and new program opportunities may be investigated.
Administrators reviewed the 2024-25 data and identified some key areas that could be improved like overall school climate, sense of belonging, school safety, and staff development. Each of these areas will be addressed through action steps outlined in the district’s strategic plan and additional building-level improvements. Some initial steps include small group discussions with students to better understand their perspectives, evaluation of safety protocols, and surveying staff on desired professional development opportunities.
A committee made up of dedicated staff members and administrators are also helping create positive changes in our schools. The CoAction Collective: Designing for Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education will come together throughout the year to:
-
- Engage in meaningful conversations with students to understand what’s behind the climate data;
- Analyze feedback from students;
- Design and implement change ideas specific to educational spaces; and
- Reflect on success and find opportunities for growth.
Questions or concerns about the climate survey may be directed to the district office.
