10th annual Lemonade Stand raises more than $5,000 for local organizations

The Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District’s special education classroom, The Tecumseh Learning Pad, more than doubled last year’s lemonade stand funds. The group brought in a whopping $5,465.60! The funds will be distributed between the Central New York Autism Society of America and ARISE Adaptive Design.

Learning Pad students helped prepare more than 700 lemonade bottles and created Autism acceptance pins for the fundraiser. For the first time, lemonade sales were expanded to Jamesville Elementary, Moses-DeWitt Elementary, and J-D High School. The district-wide support really made a difference.

“The outpouring of support from the J-D community is absolutely incredible and to have the event be connected across buildings was very special. A huge thank you for all your support to truly cultivate a district where an event that promotes awareness has truly captured acceptance and embraced friendships” said Learning Pad Special Education Teacher Megan Ames

The fundraiser is held in April to coincide with National Autism Acceptance Month. Learning Pad students will also take part in the Autism Acceptance Walk, slated for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 at Jamesville Beach.
