Welcome to Spanish Class! To help you have a successful year I came up with information about grades, procedures, expectations and supplies.

GRADES
Students will have the opportunity to self-evaluate during each marking period by visiting schooltool.

Tests 40%-Quizzes 30%-Participation 20% -Homework 10%

TESTS/Quizzes
Tests are given at the end of each unit. Students will be graded in the areas of listening, reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary and grammar. Students will receive a warning in advance for quizzes given in class.  Please visit www.quizlet.com/kgia to help review during the unit and before quizzes and tests .

PARTICIPATION
-Student is prompt and regularly attends class.
-Student proactively contributes to class by volunteering to answer questions and offering ideas that are related to the topic at least once a day.
-Student listens when others talk, both in groups and in class. Student incorporates or builds on the ideas of others.
-Student displays appropriate behavior in class.
-Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required class materials.

HOMEWORK
Homework must be done before the class starts in order to receive full credit. If you are absent, you will receive full credit if the work is done the next day after you return.

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
1. Students will enter the room on time and start the daily bell ringer, record the daily word and be prepared to work for the entire period. Prepared includes all work you will need for the entire period.
2. Students will get their class folder, sit in their designated seats and attendance will be taken at the beginning of the period.
3. There is no talking during class as we all have plenty of work to do and are fortunate to have a quiet, undisturbed place to complete it. Quiet and undisturbed also includes not bothering fellow students whether it is a person or their belongings.

CONSEQUENCES
1. Lunch detention or after school detention will be given and a parent phone call will be made if teacher deems necessary.
2. A referral will be given if student behavior does not improve.
3. Three lates to class without a pass from a teacher will result in lunch detention, time served after school or a referral.

SCHEDULE
A weekly schedule will be provided on the board everyday. Each student needs to record homework, upcoming quizzes/ or tests in their planner.

Tickets
Tickets will be given to students when they participate in class. Once a student has received a ticket, he/she should put their initials or their name on the back of the ticket. Each student will be responsible for their own tickets.  At the end of a five weeks the tickets will be collected and there will be a raffle. Each student will have the chance to win extra credit, a homework pass, bonus points on a test and goodies.

EXTRA HELP
Extra help will be given after school or if the teacher and the student have common time (both free during a study hall or lunch). Students are required to schedule a time for getting extra help with the teacher before coming to the class!
